Our Story

It all began in the summer of 2015. Three friends took a holiday and travelled for 10 weeks across India. Instead of sightseeing we chose home stays and lived with communities. It was an absolute cultural immersion. We got an entirely new perspective and appreciation for the customs and traditions prevalent. This was the way to experience authentic India. We also realized the people's struggle for a viable livelihood. The next generation of artists and craftsmen are flocking to the cities for regular jobs. There is a real danger of losing our cultural heritage unless the next generation actively pursues their traditional skills as a profession. We wanted to share our experience of authentic India with others. So the 3 of us left our jobs and founded "5 Senses Tours" on 26th August 2015. The idea was to offer an immersive cultural experience of Authentic India, by strengthening local communities.

Our Mission

We strive to strengthen local communities through livelihood support, employment opportunities and by instilling a sense a pride in their heritage. 1. We train local youth and take them on board as cultural evangelists on our tours. This helps in providing them a livelihood and a reason to stay. 2. We give business to local vendors and small businesses. Wherever possible we purchase their wares and gift them to our customers. This is to ensure travel dollars stay where they are spent. 3. Most importantly we instill a sense of pride in the community by getting guests from round the world to appreciate their heritage.
