Wildlife safari in the Maharaja's hunting grounds
Bandipur Wildlife tour is a 2 day tour from Bangalore to the Nilgiri Biosphere for wildlife spotting in the erstwhile hunting grounds of the Mysore Maharaja. Bandipur is a thriving wild life reserve today and provides a rare opportunity to spot several endangered species. We will take an evening safari as well as a morning safari through forests and wetlands to maximize the chances of wildlife spotting. We will also visit the Royal Kingdom of Mysore to experience the majestic Mysore Palace, the summer Palace of Tipu Sultan who was often called the Tiger of Mysore and a charming old bazaar.
Wildlife Safari with stay in a forest lodge
Bandipur is the centerpiece of the Nilgiri Biosphere which is India's greatest stretch of protected forest. The Wildlife Reserve was established in 1974 as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger, and was once a private hunting reserve for the Maharaja of the Kingdom of Mysore. Stay is planned in an enchanting forest lodge inside the forest. The safari through heavily forested areas and wetlands, provides a rare opportunity to spot India’s endangered wildlife like Indian elephants, gaurs, tigers, sloth bears, muggers, Indian rock pythons, four-horned antelopes, jackals and dholes.
Mysore Palace
The grand Mysore Palace is the highlight of the tour of Mysore from Bangalore. We will travel back to the golden era of Mysore Maharajas to imagine the glory that was Mysore, epitomized by this wonder built in Indo-Saracenic style with a blend of Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic styles of architecture. The Palace is a three-storied stone structure, with marble domes and a 145 ft five-storied tower. The guided tour will take you through the Public Hall, Private Hall, Dolls Pavilion and the Royal Wedding Hall.
Dariya Daulat
The Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan, was built in Indo-Saracenic style and has a few magnificent murals depicting the war between Tipu and the British. The most famous exhibit here is the famous painting “Storming of Srirangapatna” by Sir Robert Ker Porter. The theme of the painting is the final fall of Srirangapatna on 4th May 1799 when the British defeat Tipu’s forces.
Mysore Bazaar
We will visit a charming old bazaar of Mysore which is a sensorial delight made up of flowers, vegetables, fruits, jaggery, onions and potatoes, puffed rice and coconuts!
