Safari in the Nizam's hunting ground
Amrabad Tiger Reserve is situated in the Nallamala Hills, which is a part of the Eastern Ghats. Experience the rich flora and fauna in this Project Tiger Reserve. Enjoy a wild life safari on the erstwhile hunting grounds of the Nizam, the erstwhile rulers of Hyderabad. A highlight of this tour is the trek to the ruined fort of Prataparudra, the last King of Kakatiya dynasty. Stay is planned in a forest cabin inside the reserve.
Farahabad Jungle Safari
Safari is organised in the jungle of Farahabad at 4PM. The reserve is rich in bio-diversity. It is home to the Tiger, Leopard, Wild dog, and Indian Wolf, fox, Jungle cat, Rusty-spotted cat, Small Indian civet, Indian palm civet, Sloth bear, Honey badger, Wild boar, Chinkara, Nilgai, Blackbuck and the four-horned antelope. Note that wildlife spotting is a matter of luck. Tigers are very elusive by nature and we cannot guarantee sightings.
Indigenous people
The reserve is also home to several communities of indigenous people, including Chenchus and Lambadas, who have been living in the area for generations and have a deep knowledge of the local flora and fauna.
Prataparudra fort
A trek is organised at dawn through the reserve to the ruined fort of Prataparudra, the last King of Kakatiya dynasty who were one of the most powerful rulers of South India in the 10-13th centuries. Its a refreshing beginning to the day as we walk past the reserve to explore the ruined fort where spectacular views await.
Jungle cabin
Nestled in the woods of a large juvvi tree, the tree house overlooks a percolation water tank which is frequented by wildlife ranging from leopard, sloth bear, deer, wild boar etc. The tree house is named after Farha, Tigress F6, the reigning queen of Amrabad Tiger Reserve. Stay is planned in this tree house, subject to availability.
Guided Tour
Amrabad wildlife tour is a guided tour where a naturalist will accompany to better appreciate the flora, fauna and the contribution of the indigenous people in preserving the wildlife.
