Kadri Manjunath temple
Kadri Manjunatheswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Manjunatha, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Built in the 10th century, it is one of the oldest Shiva temples in the region, showcasing the Vijayanagara architectural style. The idol is in a rare seated yogic posture. A unique feature of this temple is the elevated point of the temple complex where you can spot many water ponds and a natural spring called Gomukha. The temple is not just a place of worship; it's also a cultural hub where various festivals and rituals are celebrated with great fervor.
Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara
Sri Narayana Guru, a revered social reformer built this temple to create a place of worship open to all, particularly the Billava community, who faced social restrictions. The temple showcases a blend of traditional Dravidian architecture with unique features. Its towering "gopurams" are intricately sculpted and vibrantly colored, depicting deities and mythological scenes.
St Aloysius
Head to a magnificent Church which will remind you of the Sistine Chapel of Rome. The frescoes here are a work ofJesuit artist Antonio Moscheni. The Chapel is a standing example of diverse religious makeup of the area.
Ullal Beach
The beach offers panoramic views of the coastline of the Arabian sea. The scenic beach is surrounded by stretches of coconut trees, tall lush casuarinas, and dense palm trees. The area has historical connections, including the ruined fort of Abbakka Devi, a historical queen who resisted Portuguese colonization. Ullal Beach is a great way to relax after the day's adventures.
Pilikula Artisan Village
The village is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the traditional crafts of this region. These traditional techniques have been passed down through generations. We will be able to see live demonstration of various crafts, including pottery, blacksmithing, handloom weaving, and oil extraction, using traditional methods.
Mangala Devi temple
The presiding deity of the temple is the form of Goddess Mangaladevi and Mangalore city gets its name from her. The temple is beautifully designed with a two-storeyed gopura in which the upper floor is used as a hall of drum beating during various festivals. Built with laterite, the temple has a beautiful conical roof made of terracotta tile supported from inside by a wooden structure.
