Journey to Chikmagalur to Trace the Birth of Coffee in India”
Coffee Trail to Chikmagalur
Private tour of Chikmagalur over 2 days to trace the birth of Coffee in India
Birth of Coffee in India
Embark on a two-day tour from Bangalore to the very soul of coffee country. Your story begins at a Homestay, a tranquil sanctuary set within 50 sprawling acres of emerald coffee bushes. The first day is an intimate chapter of discovery as you walk the life story of the coffee bean on a guided plantation tour. The tale reaches its dramatic climax the next morning with an ascent to Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka, where you'll witness a world of rolling green hills where Indian Coffee was born.

Coffee Walk
The Coffee Plantation Walk takes you on an unforgettable journey. You'll meander through shaded paths under a canopy of silver oak, where pepper vines cling to the trees like ancient secrets. You'll learn to distinguish the glossy green leaves of Arabica from the robust foliage of Robusta.
Mullayanagiri
Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka. The road itself is an adventure, a ribbon of asphalt winding through the majestic hills. As you ascend, you’ll feel the temperature drop and see the world unfurl below you. From the summit, standing at 6,330 feet, you are literally on the roof of the state. On a clear day, the 360-degree panoramic view is a breathtaking view of rolling green hills fading into a blue haze.
The legend of Baba Budan
Baba Budan was a Sufi saint who secretly carried seven coffee beans from Yemen to India in the 17th century, sowing the first plants on the forested slopes of Chikmagalur. From those humble beginnings, the region grew into the cradle of Indian coffee, where Arabica thrived in the cool shade of the Western Ghats. Chikmagalur’s plantations today still echo that origin story.
Home Stay
The stay is planned in a Homestay set amidst a coffee plantation. The air here is different – cooler, cleaner, and laced with the faint, sweet aroma of coffee blossoms and rich earth. You're not checking into a hotel; you're being welcomed into a home. After settling in, your welcome drink won't be a generic juice, but a cup of rich, aromatic coffee, brewed from the very beans that surround you.
