Chennai city tour I had a wonderful experience on the Chennai city tour with 5 Senses, and I highly recommend them to anyone visiting the city. The entire itinerary was thoughtfully planned, allowing us to see Chennai’s major landmarks at a comfortable pace without feeling rushed. What impressed me most was their flexibility and excellent customer service. I had expressed an interest in visiting the Madras High Court, which was not part of the original itinerary, and they kindly accommodated my request. It was a much-appreciated addition that made the tour even more memorable. They also paired us with an excellent guide and a safe, professional driver, making the day smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. A special thank you to our guide, Kannan, who was outstanding. He is incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights into the history, architecture, and significance of the temples we visited, as well as the beautiful Santhome Basilica. His explanations brought each site to life and made the experience far more meaningful. Kannan was also very patient, attentive, and always happy to answer our questions. During our delicious vegetarian lunch, he took the time to explain each dish, how it is traditionally eaten, and the best way to enjoy the meal. It was a thoughtful touch that gave us a deeper appreciation of South Indian cuisine and culture. Overall, this was an excellent tour. Thank you to 5 Senses for the well-organised itinerary and exceptional service, and to Kannan for making the day so informative, engaging, and enjoyable. Great experience! Must do! Hareesh was very nice and the tour was perfectly designed. They also ask you what you want to do in case there are other things you want to see. The car was air conditioned and came with multiple waters. I highly recommend even if you are solo.

Breezing through Chennai's landmarks I don't usually do guided tours but Ganesh was a lovely guide! It was a very comfortable way of seeing the top sites of the city with some glimpses of what everyday life looks like in Chennai. There are a lot of different cultural elements to the tour, from religion, to fisherman's neighbourhoods and some good local food and snacks. Definitely glad I had the chance of squeezing all of this in my 24 hours in Chennai.

Perfect way to see the sights of Chennai! I was fortunate enough to schedule a private tour in Chennai with Five Senses. My tour guide, Jainath, was wonderful! We visited Kapaleeshwarar Temple, a Jain Temple, Sri Ramakrishna Math, Vivekananda House, St Thome Basilica, Fort St George, and the Marina (with a quick stop for food/beverages!). All the details were taken care of (admissions, transportation, walking guide, etc). I loved seeing the city in action, and given our short stay in the area, I wanted to make the most of my time, moving from site to site. Jainath was a true highlight of the experience — patient, knowledgeable, relaxed, and kind. He kept us moving at a comfortable pace to see everything within the admissions restrictions and time constraints. I cannot imagine a better way to have explored so many sites and learn so much. I appreciated the company's commitment to its mission to give back to the local community as well. 10/10!

Tour of Chennai as a Solo Female Traveler Hareesh was great! He was very knowledgeable on the local area and the history of each place we visited. Great way to see Chennai Jainath was an excellent and very knowledgeable guide who took us to all of the main sights in Mylapore and arranged a smooth and comfortable tour. It was a great mix of walking and driving to see Chennai and he even arranged a short extra stop for us based on some questions we asked! Would absolutely recommend this tour. We saw a Ramakrishna Temple, a Jain Temple, a Hindu Temple, and the St. Thomas basilica before heading to the Fort. All excellent stops.

Vellore Fort and Sri Puram Golden Temple I was fortunate to go to Vellore Fort, Jalakandeswarar and the Golden Temple, on a new tour from 5 Senses.Our tour guide, Mr Natajaran, was knowledgable and friendly with a nice, light sense of humour.I would highly recommend both the tour company and guide.

Vellore Fort and Golden Temple We didn’t do the city tour because 5 Senses allowed us to book a bespoke tour they do not yet offer, so not on Trip Advisor yet, just leaving the review here.We visited Vellore Fort, Jalakandeswerar Temple and the Sri Puram Golden Temple, with Mr Natarajan as our guide.This was our 2nd tour with Mr Natarajan and 3rd with 5 Senses on this holiday. As previously, the communication for 5 Senses was excellent, leaving us in no doubt everything would go smoothly.Our guide’s knowledge about the places we went was excellent. The fort is well worth a visit, and the Golden Temple was one of the most stunning buildings I have ever seen.It’s a long day trip, so definitely worth trying to get an earlier start if you can, but certainly worth it.Thank you again to Mr Natarajan and 5 Senses for another great trip.

Enjoyable tour of Chennai Jainath was an excellent tour guide. Very informative. Got to see quite a bit while on this half day tour: Kapaaleswar temple, Ramakrishna Mutt, Santhome Basilica and Fort St George. Highlight was getting to see a beautiful wedding at the cathedral Wear comfy shoes there is quite a bit of walking between the temples.

OK if not overwhelming Some places were shut . We were not informed. Marina Beach should not be visited in the middle of the day. Tour guide Natarajan was excellent and well informed.

A Day in Chennai I enjoyed my day tour of Chennai with Jainath. A few of the places on the tour was closed on a Monday, the day of my tour. Jainath was friendly, insightful and managed to adjust the tour to my needs and include a few additional sites as two sites were closed. He insisted that I experience a South Indian tali the traditional way with just my hands eating from a banana leave. The food was really tasty and delicious.

Tours with small children and old woman We participated in the tour with a small child and an elderly woman. The guide was incredibly kind and attentive throughout the tour. We're so glad we chose this tour. The driver was also very professional and accommodating. We highly recommend this tour.

Excellent tour of Chennai, would recommend. Very interesting and informative tour of some of the major religious institutions in Chennai. Mr Kannan was friendly, courteous and prompt. He explained facets of the Jain and Hindu faiths in a very accessible manner, providing me with a much greater insight into these fascinating religions. The included lunch was a great introduction to the food of the area as well. The driver was skilled and I felt very safe and comfortable.

wonderful day in Chennai, despite the rain. Heavy rain was forecast but I booked this tour anyway, and it exceeded all expectations. Friendly & knowledgeable guide, skillful driver, comfortable vehicle, interesting and informative visits to temples, churches, forts, beaches, & shops, and tasty stops for lunch and chai. I also liked the flexibility - my shoes got soaked, so we stopped to purchase waterproof sandals, and at my request we also stopped at bookstores and music shops. When I return with family & friends, I will do this again!

5 Senses Tours Botanical Garden, Thousand Lights Mosque and Nagar Shops Tour Our guide was Natarajan. The tour through the gardens was peaceful and a nice break from the heat. The mosque visit was also quite serene, especially for a Friday. In both places and especially with shopping later on, Natarajan was very knowledgeable, helpful and patient with us. He tailored the entire tour around our interests and goals, which was very nice.

Ganesh is your man! Great tour of Chennai! Ganesh was a wonderful guide full of knowledge about Chennai and Tamil Nadu! We enjoyed his mnemonic device of GOD to remember the three primary Hindu gods: Brahma (generator), Vishnu (operator), and Shiva (destroyer). Ganesh has an easy disposition and laughs a lot. Great introduction to Chennai with a humble but passionate and patient guide Kannan. We had Kannan for our guide today. We loved his passion for India and how informative he was about the detail and history at each site and he pitched it at the right level for us as first time visitors to Chennai. We personally found his knowledgeable facts at each site brilliant and we learned something different at each site, such as why a temple is located where it is: how the leather casing & pork fat & royal enfield impacted independence…. We had a fabulous lunch and actually realised what each thing on the thali goes with bread, rice and also which side! He took time to make sure we ate everything as it should be ( despite us having ate thali’s over last 3 weeks!) Kannan provided a great introduction to Chennai and was great ambassador for sites & history. Don’t hesitate to book this tour and you may be lucky to get Kannan.

He was incredibly knowledgable with all of our questions and flexible to our schedule. One member of our group commented that he felt like he learned a year’s worth of history in just a few hours. Hareesh told us he loves his job and it shows! He shared history without any bias or judgement. The tour company stayed in touch with us and were very receptive to our questions beforehand.

Charms of Chennai This was our 3rd tour with Five Senses and all of our guides have been excellent; especially Kannan. He provided us with a lot of knowledge about the temples, monuments and places we toured. He included a few stops that were not on our itinerary but which helped enrich our experience. He had a good understanding of English which was helpful to us.

Amazing Indian cultural experience in 1 day! I highly recommend this tour, especially given by Natarajan (guide) and Mahendran (driver)! Natarajan was very knowledgeable and personable about the different temple sites we visited, answered my questions, including the silly ones! He graciously took photos for me at my request. We had a wonderful lunch -- it was at a vegetarian restaurant. I kept a list of meals I have enjoyed eating so far in Chennai and provided it Natarajan to help me order. For temple visits, you do need to take your shoes off at each temple. I wore socks and tennis shoes thinking I would need to walk more. I would advise doing this if you're not comfortable walking barefoot. Highly recommend to use the restrooms when Natarajan suggests, as they are the cleanest options on the tour (bring TP if you use it). Our tour went slightly over, but that was due to me taking my time at each location. My only regret is that Natarajan won't be available when I go to Delhi! Huge points for Mahendran keeping the car cool for the drive! 🙂

Chennai highlights tour I had a great time on my Chennai city tour with Kannan! I saw many of the top sites to se in Chennai and it was a great introduction to the city! Kannan was so knowledgeable, not just about the sites that we visited, but about everything we drove by. I learned a lot about the history of Chennai and India. He knew the answers to all of the questions I could possibly ask! It made the tour so much more enjoyable knowing the importance of the site and why we were visiting them. We ended with a traditional Thali lunch. I will absolutely be booking through 5 senses tours for the rest of my time in Chennai and India!

This was my second tour with Ganesh. I booked another day with him after an excellent tour to Mamalapurum yesterday. The Temple visit was a really special experience that would be difficult to do as a tourist without a guide. Ganesh is a great guide and also takes amazing photos on his phone which he'll then send to you. This is a huge bonus if you're traveling alone like I am. I can definitely recommend!

Flexible, friendly and knowledgeable Since my wife was already going on a business trip to Bangalore, I reached out to this company when researching whether to join her and extend the trip to Chennai. They proved to be reliable and flexible partners, helping to turn our ideas into practice and establish an itinerary.In the end, we used them for a walking tour of Chennai's Mylapore district and temples, St Thomas's Basilica and St George's Fort. We also used them to transfer us to a second hotel further south on the coast. They then picked us up the next morning for a guided tour of the UNESCO ruins at Mahabalipuram.We agreed the price in advance after working through various permutations.The guide, Kannan, was very knowledgeable and informative, while the driver was competent and courteous. My only disappointment was the state of St George's Fort. That's not this company's fault but rather the Tamil state government's. I appreciate there is no desire to be proud of colonial history, but human history is like geology: each layer tells a story. Plus, like it or not, the British Empire is to Chennai/Madras what the Roman Empire is to London. I would recommend this company for all your travel needs.

Chennai Private City Tour - amazing It was a tour with a great itinerary and a very knowledgeable guide, Harish. I had booked it for my 26 year old son, who thought had been to Chennai on many occasions, had not done a formal visit to any of the attractions.It covered a wide range of areas from temple, architecture, advent of Christianity, british influence, Portugese influence, spirituality and of course, food.Very well conducted, Harish was very articulate and patient and considerate, and overall a day well spent and well worth it. We had limited time in Chennai and Kannan was able to give us a great overview of the city. AMAZING - ask for Nivi I was in Chennai for work and to help get over my jet lag I booked this tour at the last minute the night before. I lucked out and ended up with a private tour with Nivethitha (Nivi) and a personal driver. The car was always air conditioned and I as much bottled water as I could drink. Nivi was an absolutely incredible guide! She asked me what things I cared about and was most interested in and catered the experience accordingly. I told her I was most interested in learning about how people live and the history of Chennai. She made a point to tell me things of that nature, such as what a typical day of a Hindu looks like, how the East India Trading company came to be. She also guided me through how to eat like a proper South Indian and which chutneys, gravies to mix together and why. I learned that the South Indian diet is very carefully thought through to optimize for one's digestive health. My favorite part was definitely the Kapaaleshwar Hindu temple where I saw men preparing sandalwood paste for the day, learned about puja, fed holy cows, and many other things. I also love seeing the Monestary that houses many orphans. I also learned a lot about three significant figures in Indian history: Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, We saw so many sights which I'll itemize below:• Monestary - Sri Ramakrishna Math • Hindu Temple - Kapaaleshwar Temple for Lord Shiva• Jain temple - Vasupujya Swami Jain Mandir• Fort St George Museum - a major port of the East Indian Trading Company• St Marys Church• Vivekananda House• Santhome Cathedral Basilica – Catholic Church• Chennai Light House at Marina Beach• Nithya Amirtham Vegetarian Restaurant and BakeryI am so grateful to Nivi for such an incredible and special experience.

First time in Chennai The cab was really comfortable and the Guide Kannan was extremely knowledgeable. He knows this route inside and out and is able to prep you when you can and cannot take pics to be respectful to the location. I was nervous to try Indian food but the lunch provided allowed me to taste and understand what foods are mixed together ... would definitely recommend as I would do it all over again ... 20 out of 10!!!

Overall the experience was very good The day started with meeting kannan sir who briefed us about the city and what all places we would be covering by the end of the day. Whenever we use to visit a place he explained us about the place and its history and culture what the people used to follow during that time. Overall the experience was amazing specially the driver of the bus who gave us a small chocolate, which I believe is a very good gesture.

Customisable, organised and interesting tour of Chennai Ours was a customised city tour in a day as we were in Chennai for a wedding and that was all we had time for. 5 Senses were very accommodating for our various requests such as last minute additions to the group, food choice, a shopping pit stop, drop offs and so on. They were easy to liaise with and well organised. Kannan our tour guide was on time, systematic and made reasonable recommendations for our tour. He is knowledgeable and explained the sites we visited clearly with little side stories and anecdotes which made our tour more interesting. All in all a very interesting and well-spent day in Chennai. Would recommend 5 Senses for tours.

Great time in Chennai We had a great time with Kannan as our tour guide! He was knowledgeable, accommodating and always ready with an interesting fun fact. It’s a great way to visit all the sites in Chennai and really immerse yourself with the history and significance of the sites through Kannan’s tidbits of information.I would recommend not travelling in summer like we did though, so that a tour like this would be more enjoyable in chillier weather.

Excellent tour experience. Tour around Chennai was great, informative and interesting! Our guide of the day was Kannan, did an excellent job being the tour guide with his vast knowledge about the history Chennai, his mindfulness and his photography skills. Only one issue we encountered was the tour van's AC weren't at its best. Other than that, the driver and Kannan were helpful with our luggages and being great with us.

Chennai City Walk Tour I took the Chennai city tour with Kannan and it was such a wonderful and educational trip. Not only could Kannan tell me about the history of the temples and churches in Chennai and the religious beliefs but he also had so many little know stories to share. I never knew they imported ice from Boston to India and it took 4 months by boat. I would have thought it would have melted before arriving. We had tea with milk and sugar that was yummy and an authentic Indian meal at Sangeetha. The day was perfect thanks to Kannan. He’s a great guide and so we’ll spoken. He’s helped make my first trip to India and Chennai very memorable.

Wonderful Day in Chennai Had another opportunity to tour with Five Senses on a recent India visit, this time a half day Chennai city tour. Although some planned locations were unexpectedly closed, Kannan (the tour guide) successfully and rapidly adjusted the schedule to include unplanned activities that met my architecture, history and cultural interests. The city is definitely worth a visit and Kannan’s desire to share his city made it even better.

He took us to all the highlights as well as shared key relevant stories about culture, traditions, religion, food and life in South India and Chennai in particular. He was patient (despite our tour being booked for 7h he didn't rush us, was flexible about what we wanted to focus on, when to take breaks, etc.) flexible and accommodating.Satish is a clever guy with a lot of experience and wisdom, and it was a pleasure to explore Chennai with him. Excellent tour with an amazing guide Our guide for this trip was Satish M. He is one of the best guides I had throughout all my trips. First of all he has a lot knowledge about history in general and it's a very nice person to talk with that really helped us understand the Indian culture and its people. The tour was amazing and it took all the day and we were thrilled with the information we received. For this reason we booked Satish four the next day to have the tour in Chennai with him as a guide. 🙂

Safe and Informative Tour Solo (or Group) Traveler I am in Chennai for business and was looking for a chance to experience Chennai during my free weekend in town. This tour did not disappoint. My tour guide, Srikrisnan, was extremely knowledgeable, as he explained the many temples we visited, as well as the other stops as well. I did this tour on my own and felt like it was a great choice for me; but could also be great for a couple or family. The meal at the end was a delight as well. Day Tour of Chennai We spent our first full day on tour with Satish and it was a great introduction to the city of Chennai! Due to limited sightseeing opportunities during our stay, this was the optimal experience for us to see all of the highlights that the City of Temples has to offer. Satish was very informative and we learned so much about the the history, culture, and religion of Chennai. In addition, he offered to take photos of us at each site without any prompting. This was great for us because sometimes we get caught up in enjoying the moment and forget to document it for later reflection. Navigating the city and traffic can feel overwhelming, so having Satish as our guide put us at ease! Would highly recommend this tour.

Fun, exciting and spiritual day in Chennai. My tour guide, Srikrishnan, did a great job of getting us around the city (despite the heavy traffic) and provided an incredible variety of experiences. We visited the Santome church, Fort St. George museum, Vivekananda house, multiple temples, they lighthouse...plus sari shopping and lunch. Srikrishnan did a great job of explaining the history and cultural traditions, and was very courteous. I had a great day, and felt that my experience was authentic, exciting and educational. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you have limited time to research and explore on your own. There's no way that anyone but a local guide could squeeze all of this into one day! FUN!

Day Tour of Chennai We had a fun filled day with Narayanan. He was very informative and friendly! We got to see a lot of local Chennai spots and learn all about the history of India! The best of Chennai in less than 7 hours Thanks to the expertise and customer oriented attitude of our guide, Kannan, we enjoyed very much this sightseeing tour. Great tour of Chennai Great tour. We were a group of seven, four grandparents, an 11 year old, and two adults. Some of us spoke Tamil, others did not. Kannan was able to manage our group with ease, and was an excellent tour guide. He was very informative and knowledgable. His English was excellent and easy to understand, and he understood us as well. The tour was well paced and insightful, and we learned a lot despite having visited India and Chennai multiple times before. Had an excellent lunch at the end.

Simply amazing! I loved this tour! It started on time at 8am and the guide Nivi and the driver Ganesh (her husband) drove me around whilst sharing knowledge to show me many of the wonders of Chennai: a beautiful Hindu temple, a British Fort, St. Thomas Church, the lighthouse, a very spiritual tour about the Vivekananda museum, among others. The guide and her husband are two joyful pleasant and resourceful pair to spend your time with.The dulcis in fundo was the local lunch, which you should rigorously eat with your hand 😊

Impactful. Historical, Human, and Devout Chennai Kannan lead a very accommodating solo tour of Chennai for me. We started with the site I wished to visit most the pink sanctuary of Sri Ramakrishna MATH. This location was peaceful and surrounded by beautiful gardens. We even took time for reflection and meditation. Opposite of this was the loud sights and sounds of Kapaleeshwarar Temple, dedicated to lord Shiva. I learned of Shiva’s position among the various gods and was informed of the stories behind the various depictions on the temple walls. It was a Sunday and there were many partitioners breaking coconuts and celebrating the Diwali season while providing offerings. We spent a good amount of time here which also made the tour a self-paced. It was welcoming to not feel rushed and to learn about the various traditions of marriage rope tying and cradles on trees in hopes for a new child. There was also a section for what looked to be the healthiest looking cows in Chennai. Some cats were being fed closely nearby. This was very foreign to me to see in a religious setting, but it was heartwarming. Getting the history of the security aspect of the temples and grain storage also provided more insight into how a temple serves multiple purposes. The only Islamic site we were able to tour was a site built in the Indo-Islamic style which now serves as a university building. This building had dark red walls which was bold against the colors of Chennai. It will be nice to have one additional site that adds to the knowledge of the other major religion in India. I did enjoy the 3D video introduction to Swami Vivekananda. I was unaware that a World’s Congress of Religions ever existed and was pleasantly surprised to see that it had been hosted in the United States. The renderings were sweet and the intention of unity carried a good energy in the ice house location. One of the most ornate and significant religious sites that we attended was the Santhome Cathedral Basilica. It was eye opening to learn that the apostle Thomas was buried in this location and the various structures that once occupied the site as different religions and cultures dominated the region. I really enjoyed walking through the Basilica when prayer was in session. The chanting is very foreign and adds an element of auspiciousness to the visit. This was an elevated view of the humble beginnings of Christianity when compared with St. Mary’s Church. At St. Mary’s I did enjoy looking at the original woven pews, documents of the visit from the British Royals, and reading the surrounding graves from the early 1700s. The beach was a nice breakaway from the religious sites to see the beauty of nature and the awesomeness and scale of the sand and waves. I really appreciated getting to see this area of Chennai where the merchants are abutting government built apartments. The fish sellers live a reality that is very hand to mouth and it was unexpected to get a chance to glimpse at what their day may be like from early morning catches to afternoon sales. The place is scenic. Which is to say that every part of the beach you looked at, there was a small vignette that gave perspective on the life of a person in Chennai. I was very happy that we got to go to the top of the elevator lighthouse to see this.Lunch was a fantastic experience! As I only had one real day for tourism on my business trip, Kannan’s hospitality and company made for a memorable meal. I loved the presentation of the South Indian Talli surved on a banana leaf with metal bowls for a variety of tastings. Kannan ordered a special meal for me which included some delicious biriyani and watermelon juice. Sangeetha was an entirely vegetarian restaurant which works well for tours and people with dietary limitations. I even ordered Paneer 65 which is something I’ve missed since my last visit to Chennai 5 years prior. I was able to take the leftovers home and enjoyed them as a late night snack having skipped dinner from the plentiful lunch. I would highly recommend 5 senses Tours and was very happy with British Airways and Viatour for guiding me to the team there. If you are local or only have a short visit in India, I would seek out this company for a tour. The car service and our driver were very complimentary and safe. We had air conditioning and bottled water which was welcomed on the warm October day. Kannan greater me at the hotel and I felt comfortable with him as a solo female traveler given his demeanor and being a father of a teenage daughter. We were able to talk about education and the various choices youths are offered here in India. This personal touch made me feel that I had a new connection in Chennai which is unforgettable.

City tour of temples, fort and lighthouse We booked on this tour keen to understand and experience the religious and cultural background of the region. We were not disappointed. We had expert guidance from Preethi who explained the mixture of cultures, languages and religions, and were driven safely through the chaotic traffic by the ever calm Selvam. Of the visit to many temples, the highlight was probably the Kabaleeswara temple with its array of gods, peacocks (well pea hens) and customs. We admired the large chariot which takes 70 men to pull (currently in its garage out the front) as well as observed the burning of ghee candles to bring calm. We learned about ash on foreheads and the relevance of the different direction of the stripe, as well as the red dot on the forehead. We also enjoyed the last call of our day at Vivekananda house (a former ice store) with its excellent three dimensional portrayals of the visit of Swami Vivekananda to the 1893 parliament of Religions - an early advocate of applauding diversity!. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and immersed ourselves in eating techniques with the many flavours on offer. We also enjoyed the trip up the lighthouse and the small museum that is attached on lighthouses around India. Suggest you wear shoes that are easy to slip on an off for many of the temples do not allow footwear.

Wonderful private tour of Chennai! Preetha is an excellent tour guide. She quickly noted our highest interests and tailored the time at those places so that we would have the richest experience. We were given meaningful information at each site. The car was comfortable and ready for us at all times to make our private tour efficient as well.

Chennai made interesting I took the Chennai City tour with a guide. In India it is not se easy to find the interesting places in the big cities. Chenai naimight not be the most intreating city from a tourists' point of view, but this tour made Chennai worth seeing. The places were chosen with care, and the guide knew how to make the sites tell their stories.

Definitely worth half a day in Chennai. This was our second tour with Kannan, who again did a wonderful job of explaining the history and details around the various temples and landmarks we visited as well as a lot of city history. The theme throughout the tour was very positive and I like this better than even some longer tours we took. We visited Sri Ramakrishna Math, a Sai Baba temple, the Kapaleeshwarar Temple (a Shiva temple), Vivekanandar Illam (there is a very interesting museum here dedicated to the history of the Indian Saint Swami Vivekananda, which a lot of detail on creation stories as well, one of my favorite stops.) There were additional stops at the Chennai lighthouse and another planned for a British fort which we chose to skip.

Yes, This is the Tour You Want to Book! We have only traveled through Chennai from the airport to Vellore in the past, so we wanted to learn more about the city. This tour did NOT disappoint. We were picked up at our hotel promptly on time by Kannand and the driver. Our tour included temples, churches, the beach, Fort George, a local handicraft store (at our request), and an amazing S. Indian lunch. Kannand was extremely friendly and knowledgeable; not only did we see the sights, we learned so much about the history of India and the temple. He was able to answer all of our questions in a clear, understandable way. He handled every detail and took great care of us. In addition, the driver was very good and safe (and if you've traveled in India, you know how important that is!). I highly recommend this tour, company, and Kannand. One suggestion is that you avoid booking on a Monday; several of the places are closed on Monday.

Chennai City Tour My wife and I had traveled thru Chennai several times but this was our first time to take a tour of the city. Mr. Kannan was an excellent tour guide and enabled us to learn the history of Chennai while visiting important landmarks. The south Indian lunch was superb.

Day Tour of Chennai My husband and I were in Chennai for our friend's wedding. We had a day to tour the city and decided to book last minute with Five Senses. Sathish was our tour guide and he had a wealth of knowledge about Chennai. The tour itself was great which included a stop at a couple of temples, churches and Fort. Unfortunately, it was too hot for us to stop at Marina Beach, but driving by it was great to see. I highly recommend this tour and it's a private tour so need to worry about waiting on other tourists. We were fully immersed in Chennai and it was great to walk around and be part of the hustle and bustle. If you have a day in Chennai and want to check out a few different places, I suggest you take this tour.

Chennai City Tour Mr. Kannan provided an excellent tour of Chennai. Visiting the temples, churches, beach, light house and Fort provided for an excellent day. He did a good job in explaining the correlation between the temples and the various religions. Very good tour of important landmarks in Chennai We organized this trip as part of induction for new hires. Mr Kannan was very good in hosting the trip, covering important landmarks in Chennai like Saibaba temple, Kabaleeshwarar temple, etc. He was quite knowledgeable and shared fascinating stories.Will definitely recommend 5senses for outsiders.

Spiritual immersion This tour was a unique way to discover the sacred sites in Chennai. The sites that might get lost in the midst of the crazy traffic and elaborate street network of the city.My guide, Kannan, was very good in explaining in a pleasant and thorough manner the essentials of hinduism, the deities and customs in temples. We visited unique Hindu temples, the oldest British establishments in India and to my great surprise several Christian churches with very interesting architecture and art. I recommend booking this tour if you have little time to drive out from the town yet want to see something before you leave. That was at least my case and I am sincerely happy to have explored this tour via Five Senses 🙂

Chennai day Tour This is a must for a historical/cultural experience. Kannan wove a rich tapestry of the city’s history in a meaningful and interesting way. The tour was exceptional and the guide went out of his way for us. He took pictures, made sure we were hydrated, sanitized and asked about food preferences. Communication was great. Superb experience of Day tour of Chennai I have been to Chennai several times but glad that on my husband insistence,took a day tour within the Chennai city with 5 Senses Tour and with our guide Mr.Kannan.He took us around to Sai Baba temple,St. Thomas Basilica, Kapaleshwar Temple, Parthaswamy Temple, Ramakrishna Mutt, Vivekananda house ,Lighthouse.The best part of the trip was visiting Ramkrishna Mutt, Kapaleshwar Temple and Lighthouse.The knowledge which Mr. Kannan imparts and the enthusiasm with which he shows around is really good. He explained us little things like the concept of keeping grains in vessels at the top of each temple gate in South India for 16 years,so that when the calamity strikes, one can survive and clutivate and continue the livelihood.I had simply loved Kapaleshwar Temple. It's vastly built and every sculpture done is beautiful and intricate.He made us have north indian thali at Sangeetha ,that was also good.I want to thankyou Mr. Kannan for making our trip so good. Great Tour of Chennai with 5 Senses Tours and Guide Vijay We spent a few days in Chennai in March 2020 and had some specific sites of interest we wanted to visit for family history purposes so we asked 5 Senses Tours to fit these sites into two private half day tours for us, which they did. The tours were carried out at exactly the right pace for us and our guide Vijay was very knowledgeable and friendly. Great introduction to Chennai This tour with Kannan and his driver met all of our expectations. Not only did it cover some important Temples but also historical places and churches. The information he provided behind the creation of these places was knowledgeable. We have already recommended this tour to other tourists in our hotel and will do so in the future. One of the intended stops was closed due to renovations however we were taken to an alternative one which we found very interesting. It appeared to be a considered option based on our interests which he had observed.

Good look around Chennai Satish was our fantastic host for this private tour of Channai. Hotel pick up was on time and efficient. Satish was very knowledgable and made us feel very welcome. We had a good look around some temples and churches (I preferred the former) and Satish arranged a great lunch for us. The tour was informative and enjoyable and we felt well looked after. Chennai Full Day Tour wth 5 Senses One of three tours we did with 5 Senses, all with the same guide - Kannan. All went very well, with our personal guide and driver, and an included Indian lunch.This tour was tailored to our needs because we had already seen some of the sites on the usual itinerary. So we ended up going to some lesser known places.

Great local Chennai tour I booked this tour alongside the Mahabalipuram & Kanchipuram tour, and I ended up getting the same guide and driver for both days. Both were excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable and kept a close eye to make sure I was comfortable. All entrance and camera fees were covered, which was a very professional move. And the guide asked me about what i wanted to eat rather than forcing a particular restaurant. The thing that struck me on this tour is the time allotted to appreciate and meditate in the various types of temples and churches. Also the bird's eye view of the city from the lighthouse was very cool. The only improvement i would suggest is some additional / alternate stops along the way to the government area. That area is in desperate need of improvement, but there were some really interesting looking buildings on the same road.

Chennai visit We could not have been happier with the tour guide we had. Kannan knew absolutely everything about Chennai and, more importantly, was passionate about his job and ensuring we had a wonderful time! Great experience After taking the tour to Mahabalipuram, we were very satisfied and decided to take Chennai full day tour, too. It was again nice experience - thanks to the guide, Kannan, you dont have to worry about anything. Lunch is included and selected according to your tastes. I think this tour is great for people who might be otherwise little bit overwhelmed by India or who do not have enough time to do some research before coming here/or their time here in India is limited. Also - bonus points for taking us to a specific shop that me and my boyfriend wanted to visit. And extra bonus points to Kannan for making sure that my boyfriend does not buy stupid stuff there and actually knows what's he buying, lol. Recommend.

Great tour This was an excellent way for seeing the best of Chennai in one day. Vijay, the guide was very knowledgable and I learned a lot from him, especially about the history and the religions related to the temples/churches of the tour. He even changed the route somewhat to tailor it to my interests. I felt safe walking in the crowded markets with him, something I would not have done alone. It was definitely a rewarding tour.

Highlights of Chennai This was a great tour for seeing the 'must see' sights of Chennai and learning about the culture and history. Kannan is a very knowledgeable and helpful guide and is great at explaining. We went to two very different temples, the St Thomas Basilica, a museum, a fort and had a great lunch. I really appreciated their flexibility about the tour and Kannan's advice on where to find things in Chennai.

Mesmerizing Mylapore Tour with Mr. Kannan Thanks to Mr. Kannan for enlightening me with the intricate details of Kabaleeswarar Temple at Mylapore. He welcomed me at the main entrance of the temple and made me realize as if i had been blessed to be at the most sacred place on the earth. The history of the temple and the importance of temples in India was well narrated by him. He took me around the temple explaining the importance of each and every thing i could admire in the grand temple. Importance of 'Gopuram', 'Vimana', Garba Graha, Lingam significance, positive energy prevalent in every temple, sound of bell, Aarthi, different stages inside the sanctum sanctorum and the reasons behind every temple was well highlighted and shown with all their splendour. Hats off to him for his excellent language and understanding the psyche of his clients in knowing more in less time. The demonstration with Rudhraksha to find out the satvic food was a special attraction. Really, a great learning experience with Mr. Kannan. I wish he takes me to the other important landmarks as well. Thank you very much for giving me a wonderful and unforgettable evening exploring Mylapore.

Jam-packed at a Relaxed Pace We usually go-it-alone when on vacation, but we thought a tour guide would be helpful in India. Fortunately, my wife found 5-Senses Tours! Our FULL DAY "Cultural Evangelist," Kannan, was not only friendly, polite and knowledgeable he was also enthusiastic about every place we experienced. The Best Way to See Chennai! What a great day of touring interesting Chennai! Kannan was a fantastic tour guide.
