Himalayan Village Experience

High in the quiet hills of West Sikkim, Sikkim Farm Stay offers a rare chance to slow down and experience Himalayan life from within. Stay in Tibetan-style rooms on a working organic farm overlooking forested valleys and distant snow peaks, explore centuries-old monasteries such as Pemayangtse Monastery, and walk through the atmospheric ruins of Rabdentse Ruins, once the capital of the Sikkimese kingdom. Between monastery visits and village walks, spend unhurried days wandering orchards, watching traditional farming practices, and soaking in the stillness of the mountains near Rinchenpong. This is not a rushed sightseeing trip but an immersive Himalayan retreat—where culture, nature, and village life come together to reveal the quieter, timeless side of Sikkim.

Sikkim Farm Stay

This journey offers a rare opportunity to stay in a traditional farm in the hills of Sikkim, nestled at 6,000 feet above sea level. The stay is in Tibetan-style rooms within a working organic farm surrounded by forests and Himalayan views. Over the course of the trip, explore Buddhist monasteries, visit the historic ruins of the former Sikkimese capital, walk through mountain villages, and experience daily life in a peaceful Himalayan community.

Organic Farm

The farm contains mixed Himalayan woodland with pine, alder, chestnut, magnolia, rhododendron, and cherry trees. The farm itself produces a variety of crops depending on the season—maize, millet, paddy, potatoes, ginger, turmeric, and sweet potatoes. Fruit orchards grow avocados, oranges, bananas, pears, apricots, and mangoes, while seasonal vegetables include cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, and peas. The farm follows fully organic cultivation practices. Guests may walk through the fields, observe traditional farming activities, or simply enjoy the quiet mountain landscape.

Pemayangtse Monastery

This is one of the most important monasteries of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism. Built in the late 17th century by Lama Lhatsun Chenpo, the monastery played a central role in the spiritual history of Sikkim and the coronation of its first Chogyal, the Buddhist monarchs who ruled the kingdom. Inside the monastery are numerous sacred images and ritual objects. The top floor houses an intricate wooden sculpture depicting the celestial palace of Guru Padmasambhava, known as Sangtok-Palri.

Rabdentse Ruins

Walk through forest trails to Rabdentse Ruins. Rabdentse served as the second capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim in the 17th century before being abandoned in the late 18th century due to repeated invasions from Nepal. Today the palace complex lies in evocative ruins within a nature reserve known for its birdlife.

Village Walk

Explore nearby Himalayan villages and smaller Buddhist monasteries scattered across the hills. These monasteries often sit on hilltops overlooking deep valleys and forested slopes. Visitors may see young monks studying, spinning prayer wheels, or chanting in quiet temple halls. The walk also offers a glimpse into everyday life in the mountain communities of Sikkim.
